About the Donation Fund and Awards

SS_photoAt INANE, we are committed to supporting our future editors, authors, reviewers, and others who will be influential in creating and sharing nursing knowledge. As evidence of that commitment, we have created a fund to support the Mentoring Editor Awards.

The awards, named after our late colleague Suzanne Smith, are funded by donations from friends, members, and supporters of INANE. Gifts of any amount are gratefully accepted. The Suzanne Smith Development Fund was established in 2013 and named for Suzanne after her untimely death in September of that year. Our goal is to remember our colleague and honor her legacy through the Mentoring Editors Awards. Click here to donate. Thank you in advance for your generous gift!

The Mentoring Editors Awards were first presented in March 2014 to four nurses with a new editorship or emerging interest and editing and publishing. Each awardee was paired with a seasoned editor-mentor to provide support, encouragement, and networking opportunities at the INANE annual meeting. The award consists of a complimentary registration to the conference but its value extends far beyond the monetary compensation that is provided.

Typically applications for the award for each conference open in the fall, and the typical application deadline is February 1.  Applications are open now, click here to apply!

Note that the intention of this program is to support those who have an emerging interest in editing and publishing, such as newly appointed editors attending INANE for the first time, peer reviewers, editorial board members, and authors. These awards are not intended for seasoned editors or publishers.
