Workgroups are formed when there is an initiative that INANE members wish to pursue in the interest of furthering the mission of INANE. Below is a description of our ongoing workgroups and a record of those who have volunteered for these groups.
Annual Awards
MARGARET COMERFORD FREDA LEADERSHIP AWARD
This is the highest award INANE offers. It was established in 2012. The MCF Leadership Award is presented annually if there is a nominee that meets the criteria, as determined by the selection committee. A new committee is established every year, usually in February or March. An announcement asking for committee members will be posted to the INANE Email Update list. Nominations are accepted in March and April. The award winner is a secret and announced at the INANE Annual Meeting.
SUZANNE SMITH MENTORING EDITORS AWARDS
First introduced for the 2014 INANE meeting held in Portland, Maine, the Mentoring Editors Awards provide financial support, in the form of a complimentary registration, for four aspiring or new editors of nursing journals to attend INANE. Winners are also paired with a mentor. Applications are accepted in late fall/early winter, with a due date in January. Winners are announced on March 1st. SUZANNE SMITH DEVELOPMENT FUND
The Suzanne Smith Development Fund was established in 2013 with a specific purpose to support the Suzanne Smith Mentoring Editors Awards. The fund is named after our colleague and friend, Suzanne Smith, who died unexpectedly in September, 2013. Donations to the fund are always gratefully accepted.
Internet Resources Workgroup
Since 2012, Leslie Nicoll and Peggy Chinn have assumed the lead in developing the new web site and mechanisms for coordination between all of our internet resources. The specific ongoing initiatives for this workgroup are listed below.
WEBSITE MANAGEMENT
This team assumes responsibility for the ongoing maintenance of the content on the web site, re-design and improvements as needed, and management of the results of the forms that are available on the site.
DIRECTORY OF NURSING JOURNALS
The Directory of Nursing Journals is a collaborative effort between Nurse Author & Editor and INANE. The directory was totally updated in the spring of 2014. Every journal on the list has been reviewed and vetted for its suitability for inclusion. If you have a journal to be considered for the list, or updates to an existing journal, please contact us using this form.
BLOG
We post current topics related to the publishing of nursing knowledge, and plans regular posts on these topics. The team also posts news items about INANE events and projects, information about new issues and resources, and general information of interest to nurses in leadership positions. The blog was started in 2009.
EMAIL LIST
Initially on Yahoo, the list is now hosted by google groups. Use our contact form to request to be on the list are added to the list.
FACEBOOK AND TWITTER
Volunteers who work with our Facebook page and our Twitter feed help to keep these resources active and interesting! We have created albums on Facebook to archive photos from our past conferences; these photographs need to be reviewed and labeled to identify the people and places. We need volunteers to assist with this task–please contact us through the contact page if you would like to be involved.
